About the 1st Edition printing

Which object this page prices — and how to tell it from the standard Moltres.

The 1st Edition Moltres carries the first-print stamp on the left of the card, from the earliest Fossil print run before the unlimited reprint. Scarcer than unlimited by construction and priced as a separate product at every grade.

How to tell · bottom-left of the illustration window

A black “EDITION 1” stamp sits to the left of the picture, between the illustration and the card's lower text. No stamp means it is not 1st Edition, whatever else the listing says.

Grading a clean 1st edition copy turns roughly $198 into about $5,000 at PSA 10 — PSA grades this card a 10 about 1% of the time, a census rate that overstates a fresh submission’s odds. Where a range is shown it is the recent low–high sale spread at that grade.

Cert-verified 1st Edition sales

Each sale tied by PSA to a specific 1st edition slab — click the cert to check it on psacard.com. A sale more than 3× off this printing’s value at its grade is treated as a mis-homed slab and left out.
