Pokémon card values by type
A Pokémon card's type is the symbol printed in its top corner; it decides weakness and resistance matchups and, for most types, which basic Energy its attacks use. This page treats each of the 11 types as a market dataset: card counts, tracked value, median and top cards, gem-mint premiums and the value-index trend since 2021. Type is each card's printed TCG type, so a Dark Charizard counts as Darkness and Steam Siege's dual-typed cards count in both of their types. Psychic holds the most tracked value at $79,445.

Frequently asked questions
How many Pokémon TCG energy types are there?
11 appear across the cards tracked here: Psychic, Colorless, Water, Fire, Darkness, Lightning, Grass, Fighting, Dragon, Metal, Fairy. Not all are current: Fairy was retired with the Sword & Shield series, and Dragon has never had a basic Energy card of its own. A card's type is whatever is printed on it; dual-typed cards from sets like Steam Siege count in both.
Which Pokémon type is the most valuable?
By total tracked value, Psychic — $79,445 across 2,330 cards. That's the sum of every priced card of that type, so it reflects how many valuable cards a type has accumulated as much as any single card's price.
Prices are blended from real completed sales — eBay sold listings, Fanatics Collect and Goldin auction results, and PSA cert-verified sales — cross-checked against live TCGplayer, Cardmarket and PriceCharting market prices. How CardTrack prices cards →
