Methodology

What it tracks

The CardTrack 100 is the 100 most valuable raw Pokémon singles, selected by TCGplayer market price and rebalanced weekly — so the basket always reflects the current top of the market (grouped by era for the sub-indices). Two series run on it: equal-weighted(the mean of each card's price ratio versus base) and value-weighted (the basket-sum ratio, where the priciest cards dominate).

The maths

  • Equal-weighted = mean(price[t] / price[base]) × 100
  • Value-weighted = Σ price[t] / Σ price[base] × 100
  • Per-segment sub-indices use the same two formulas over each segment's members.

Base, history & coverage

Base date 2026-04-01= 100. The 90-day history is a real backtest of the current basket, reconstructed from each card's actual TCGplayer 7/30/90-day price change — not a fabricated path. All 100 of 100constituents are priced; cards whose recent change isn't recorded are held flat over the backtest (never zero-filled) and move on the forward series.

Price basis

A Raw (Near-Mint)index. Single prices are the continuous TCGplayer Near-Mint market price (via JustTCG), the hobby-standard raw value — with catalog raw price as a fallback for any card JustTCG doesn't cover. A PSA 10 (graded) series is planned for v2.
