How EX cards have performed

The three EX eras
"ex" has been used three times. The original lowercase ex (2003–2007) are scarce vintage cards; the uppercase EX (2012–2016) are the Mega-evolution-era cards like Charizard-EX; and the current lowercase ex (2023–present) are Scarlet & Violet cards. All make the Pokémon worth two prize cards when knocked out.
What drives the value
Vintage 2003–07 ex cards are the scarcest and most condition-sensitive. Modern full-art and special-illustration ex cards of Charizard and other favourites are the current chase, strongest graded gem-mint.
