How this is calculated
Net = sale price − (sale price × venue %) − venue flat fee − your costs; Profit = Net − cost basis; ROI = Profit ÷ cost basis; Break-even sale price = (cost basis + flat fee + your costs) ÷ (1 − venue %)
Assumptions
- eBay: 13.25% + $0.40 per sale — 13.25% final value fee (2.35% on any portion over $7,500) + $0.40 per order ($0.30 on orders of $10 or less)
- TCGplayer: 13.25% + $0.30 per sale — 10.75% commission (capped at $75 per card) + 2.5% + $0.30 transaction fee
- Cardmarket: 5.00% + $0.00 per sale — ≈5% sale commission
- Whatnot: 10.90% + $0.30 per sale — 8% commission + 2.9% + $0.30 payment processing (combined ≈10.9% + $0.30)
- Mercari: 10.00% + $0.00 per sale — ≈10% selling fee
- PayPal G&S (private): 2.99% + $0.00 per sale — 2.99% goods & services (no fixed fee)
- Local / cash: 0.00% + $0.00 per sale — No platform fees
- Fees are estimates for a standard seller; promoted listings, international fees, category quirks and seller-level discounts change the real rate.
- All amounts are treated as one currency.

Selling fee FAQ
How much does eBay take when you sell a Pokémon card?
On a $100.00 sale, CardTrack's eBay estimate is $13.65 in fees, leaving $86.35 before shipping — 13.25% final value fee (2.35% on any portion over $7,500) + $0.40 per order ($0.30 on orders of $10 or less). Real fees vary with seller level, category and promotions.
Which marketplace leaves the most after fees?
At $100.00: Local / cash $100.00, PayPal G&S (private) $97.01, Cardmarket $95.00, Mercari $90.00, Whatnot $88.80, TCGplayer $86.45, eBay $86.35. Lower fees do not mean a higher sale price — buyer reach differs by venue.
What is the break-even sell price?
The sale price at which net proceeds exactly equal your cost basis plus your own costs: roughly (cost basis + flat fee + your costs) ÷ (1 − venue %), solved against the same fee tiers and caps the calculator charges (eBay's lower rate above $7,500, TCGplayer's $75 commission cap). Below it the sale loses money after fees.
Does eBay charge a lower fee on expensive graded cards?
Only above $7,500. For trading-card singles eBay charges 13.25% on the sale up to $7,500 and 2.35% on the portion above it, so a $10,000 sale costs about $1052.90 in fees rather than $1325.40 at a flat 13.25%. eBay has run time-limited, opt-in fee promotions for $1,000+ singles (for example in spring 2025); those are not applied here.
Does eBay charge its fee on shipping too, or just the item price?
Just the item price for this calculator's estimate — but eBay's real final value fee applies to the total amount the buyer pays, including any shipping you charge them, not only the item price. Factor shipping charged in separately if you charge for it.
Is payment processing a separate fee or already included?
It depends on the venue. eBay's final value fee already includes payment processing. TCGplayer (2.5% + $0.30) and Whatnot (2.9% + $0.30) charge a separate transaction or processing fee on top of their commission — this calculator adds it in, which is why their combined rate is higher than the headline commission. PayPal Goods & Services is itself a processing fee (2.99%).
Do fees change with seller level or a store subscription?
Yes, on some venues — an eBay store subscription or high seller level can lower the standard rate, and TCGplayer's tier depends on your seller level too. This calculator uses each venue's standard, non-discounted rate, so a subscribed or high-volume seller may do slightly better than shown.
