What a Radiant card is

Radiant Pokémon are shiny cards debuting in English in the Astral Radiance expansion (May 2022), printed with an etched, mirror-like foil across the entire card. Every Radiant card is a Basic Pokémon regardless of the depicted species' usual evolution stage, and only one Radiant Pokémon of any kind is allowed per deck. This is the modern Radiant Rare rarity — not the unrelated 2016 "Generations: Radiant Collection" subset some searches also surface. Five expansions carried three each — Astral Radiance, Pokémon GO, Lost Origin, Silver Tempest and Crown Zenith — plus one SWSH Black Star Promo, Radiant Eevee; we track 15 of them.

Collecting them

Because there are so few, Radiants are a satisfying complete-the-set target. Radiant Charizard leads on value, but the small total count keeps even the less popular Pokémon desirable to collectors chasing the full run.

Are Radiant Pokémon cards rare?

By count, yes — only three per expansion across five expansions, plus one promo. The most popular, like Radiant Charizard, carry a strong premium; the whole subset is small and self-contained, which appeals to completionists.

How do I spot a Radiant card?

Look for the word 'Radiant' before the Pokémon's name, a shiny alternate colouring, and a flat, etched holo texture that covers the entire card rather than just the artwork, as on a holo rare.
