Magic had a genuinely good month. The CardTrack MTG Index climbed 2.9% over the past 30 days across the 1,664 cards we track for liquidity, and it wasn't just one hot card dragging the average up — there was real breadth to it. If you've been checking Magic: The Gathering prices lately and wondering why your binder feels a little heavier, this is why.

The risers list is a fun one this time. Cornered Market is up a wild 71.3% to $325, which is the kind of move you usually only see on a card that just got a reprint announcement pulled or a sudden cube/EDH spotlight. Right behind it, Graveborn Muse jumped 55.7% to $325, and Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines — already a modern staple — added another 51.8% to sit at $345. Orim's Chant also had a strong run, up over 50%. On the other side of the ledger, things were pretty tame: Lightning Bolt (the Judge promo) slipped 6.9% to $587, and Mox Opal, Hallowed Fountain, and Lazav all cooled a few percent. Nothing alarming there — just some of the priciest cards on the board giving back a little after long runs. If those older, blue-chip pieces interest you, they're all still very much part of the conversation over on most valuable Magic cards.

Stack Magic up against its peers and it's the clear winner of the month. Pokémon actually had a rough stretch, down 8.1%, while Lorcana (+1.2%), One Piece (+1.6%), and Yu-Gi-Oh! (+0.7%) all posted modest, quiet gains. Magic's 2.9% blew past all of them. And it wasn't just a card-game story — Magic also outpaced gold (+1.5%) and comfortably beat the S&P 500, which actually dipped slightly (-0.1%) over the same window. Bitcoin came close at +2.5%, but even crypto's usual volatility didn't outrun cardboard this time.

So call it a strong, broad-based month rather than a fluke driven by one card. Whether this is the start of a longer run or just a nice bounce, we'll be watching closely — keep an eye on the CardTrack 100 for where the momentum heads next.

Methodology

The CardTrack Magic: The Gathering Index tracks a value-weighted basket of liquid Magic: The Gathering cards. Card values are blended daily from TCGplayer, Cardmarket and PriceCharting. To avoid noise, movers require a minimum value and any implausible move (greater than ±75%) is excluded. This is market data, not financial advice — prices can move quickly.
