What makes a card a "gold" card
Gold cards are secret rares: cards printed with a number higher than the set's official total, so they sit hidden at the very end of the checklist. Modern gold cards use a metallic gold-etched texture across the whole card, and can be a Pokémon, a Trainer, or a special Energy. They're pulled at some of the lowest rates in a set.
Are they worth collecting?
Their scarcity makes gold cards a consistent premium tier — a gold Charizard or Pikachu can command hundreds, and even gold Trainers hold value. For the biggest names, a gem-mint grade multiplies the price again.
